UH Sports Circle of Honor
The first Asian-American woman elected to Congress, she championed the Title IX Amendment of the Higher Education Act, which was renamed the Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act in her honor. A graduate of UH, she received her law degree from the University of Chicago. She served in the U.S. House for 12 terms, from 1965-77 and 1990-2002. In 1972, she was the first woman and Asian American to run for U.S. President.
