UH Sports Circle of Honor
The 1980 Rainbow baseball team of head coach Les Murakami, R. Bass, C. Crim, H. Dashefsky, B. Duquette, J. Erdahl, L. Kakazu, S. Kakazu, W. Kimura, A. Lane, J. Lono, W. Mauricio, G. Muramaru, L. O’Conner, M. Olmos, G. Oniate, K. Perkins, T. Reece, S. Roberts, G. Silva, D. Smith, C. Tanabe, E. Tokunaga and K. Williams brought honor and glory to Hawai‘i with a winning streak that took them all the way to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. The Rainbows made their march to Omaha by sweeping the WAC title in Honolulu and the NCAA Central Regional Championship in Austin, Texas. Without a single All-American on its roster, the team came within one game of winning the national crown.
