UH Sports Circle of Honor
Joe Onosai, a native of American Samoa, was an All-American and all-WAC offensive lineman at UH from 1983-86. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1986, but ended his football career after suffering a neck injury. He went on to become a two-time national powerlifting champion and placed third in the World’s Strongest Man competition. While a pastor at Word of Life Academy, he served as football coach and throwing coach for track and field. He is also known for an outreach program which helped rehabilitate ex-convicts.
