Chad Owens was an All-American receiver and return specialist for the Rainbow Warriors (2001-04) before a Hall of Fame career in the Canadian Football League. As a freshman in 2001, he broke two NCAA records during a memorable game versus BYU in which he returned a kickoff and punt for touchdowns. In 2004, he was named an All-American and recipient of the Mosi Tatupu Award. He set a UH single-season receptions record and was a two-time all-WAC honoree. In 2012 while playing for the Toronto Argonauts, he was named the league’s Most Outstanding Player and helped them win the 100th Grey Cup. He spent nine seasons in the CFL and in 2024 was inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame.
