UH Sports Circle of Honor
Derek Tatsuno was one of the most successful pitchers in the history of college baseball (1977-79). The first 20-game winner in NCAA-I baseball, Tatsuno was named to the College Baseball All-Century team by Baseball America in 1998. Tatsuno’s final home game in a Rainbow uniform drew 18,345 fans to Aloha Stadium, at that time an NCAA record for regular-season play. A first-round draft pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 1982 Major League Draft, Tatsuno opted for a professional career in Japan.
