Ephraim "Red" Rocha, a legend in local basketball, served as head coach from 1963-73, guiding Hawai‘i’s “Fab Five” to the program’s first appearances in the NIT and NCAA postseason tournaments. Rocha, a former NBA player, was instrumental in starting the Rainbow Classic, known as one of the nation’s premier preseason basketball tournaments.
