UH Sports Circle of Honor
Wallace "Wally" Nakamoto, UH’s first diving coach, began his 31-year career in 1971, earning numerous national coaching awards, including U.S. Diving Association’s Cady Meritorious Coaching Achievement Award and U.S. Masters Diving 30-year recognition award. He coached AAU national springboard champion Keala O’Sullivan to bronze at the 1968 Olympics as well as six conference champions at UH. Nakamoto helped design the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex. He was a diver for the Rainbows (1954-57), serving as team captain and earning regional honor.
