Ceremony Information

Arena Gates Open
Gate A opens one (1) hour prior to the event.

Accessible (ADA) entrance will be on the right-hand side of Gate A.

Bag Policy and Approved Items

Approved Bags
  • Soft-sided bags that can fit beneath your seat or on your lap
  • Medically necessary items.
Approved Items
  • Baby bottles
  • Binoculars
  • Cameras for still photography
  • Empty water bottles (non-metal, non-glass, and uninsulated)
    • Please note that non-factory sealed water bottles containing liquid will not be allowed into any UHAD facility.
  • Factory sealed plastic water bottles (one (1) bottle 1.0 liter or smaller per guest).
  • Leis must fit beneath your seat or on your lap.
    • Candy leis are allowed as long as candies are not consumed during the ceremony.
  • Medically necessary items
  • Necessary personal effects such as keys, wallets, phone, etc.
  • Service animals
  • Soft-sided bags that can fit beneath your seat or on your lap
Any item not on the list of approved items (i.e. signs, banners, and balloons) will not be allowed into the indoor ceremony. Special considerations will be made for guests with special medical needs and individuals caring for infants.

 
Lei Giving Information - Les Murakami Stadium

Greet graduates after Commencement at the Les Murakami Stadium (Baseball)*. Graduates will be organized alphabetically by last name. We kindly ask that all families and guests remain behind the ropes until all of the graduates have entered the field.

To preserve our athletic fields and surfaces the following are prohibited:
  • No weapons (i.e. guns, knives, batons, etc.)
  • No tobacco products, e-cigs, vapes, etc. (UH is a tobacco free campus)
  • No food or beverages (i.e. alcohol beverages, ”tailgating”, bentos, setting up a food line, etc.)
  • No coolers
  • No confetti, silly string, glitter, streamers, poppers, and/or any device that will emit celebratory items
  • No fireworks or devices that will emit smoke and/or sparks
  • No drones
  • No pull wagons or carts
  • No tables and/or chairs. Exception: wheelchair and rollator
  • No bicycle, e-bike, skateboard, scooters, motorized scooters, mopeds, etc.
  • No pets. Exception: Service dog (Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA)
  • All signs must be hand held. No staking into the turf, no large frame, no securing to any fence or structure. As a courtesy to fellow graduates and safety for all, signs should be limited to a manageable size. (are not to exceed 5’ x 8’ in size)
  • No mylar balloons
Items not listed but that are determined by security personnel or venue management to be a risk to the safety or enjoyment of guests will not be allowed into the venue.

* Concession stands will not be open

In accordance to Hawaiʻi state law (SB 134, Act 160, SLH 2018) the use of tobacco products are prohibited on the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa campus, and all 10 UH campuses and university-owned facilities.
