Ways to Support ‘Bows NIL

Institutional NIL

As of July 1, 2025, UH Athletics is participating in the new NCAA system for Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) that resulted from the House v. NCAA settlement. The settlement allows universities to enter into institutional NIL agreements directly with student-athletes in all sports. At UH, the primary motivation for these NIL contracts is to RECRUIT and RETAIN elite student-athletes. To be competitive in the Mountain West and Big West, UH Athletics must create a pool of funds that coaches can use at their discretion to build their rosters.

How Can You Help?

UH Athletics has created the Boost the 'Bows Fund where donations will be used to help support Name, Image, and Likeness, expand scholarship resources, and recruit and retain elite student-athletes.

  1. All donations to the Boost the 'Bows Fund are tax deductible.
  2. Donations can be made to the department-wide Boost the 'Bows Fund or to the sub-account that exists for each team.
  3. Donations to the Boost the 'Bows Fund are philanthropic and cannot be contingent on student-athletes providing services in return to the donor or sponsor.

Non-Institutional NIL

Separate and apart from the institutional agreements described above, individuals and entities can also enter into direct contracts with student-athletes for non-institutional NIL deals. Non-institutional NIL refers to an arrangement where the student-athlete is paid and, in return, provides a service (e.g., attend an autograph session, post on social media, appear in a commercial, etc.). Under the new NCAA rules, the students can only get paid the market value for the services provided. Deals for less than $600 must be reported to UH. Deals that are $600 or more must also be reported by the student-athlete to NIL Go, the NIL clearinghouse managed by Deloitte.

How Can You Help?

  1. Engage directly with any of our 500+ Student-Athletes via INFLCR on the ‘Bows Exchange. INFLCR is a leading platform that empowers athletic programs and athletes to navigate the NIL landscape. With INFLCR, you can connect with student-athletes, manage NIL deals, and ensure compliance with NCAA regulations. This opportunity is available to individuals, non-profits, small businesses, and corporations.
  2. Partner with UH's exclusive multi-media rights holder, Learfield, to hire student-athletes to participate in corporate sponsorships. Deals made through Learfield allow for the use of the University's trademarks and logos. Learfield will manage and guide our partners through the whole process. If there is interest in exploring the corporate sponsorship route, please reach out to Greg Salas, our Associate General Manager for Learfield at UH.

If the Non-institutional NIL deal is $600 or more, please discuss in advance with our Director of Development and NIL, Hunter Niswander, to ensure that proper reporting is done with the student-athlete through NIL Go. (Learn more about NIL Go)
