UH Sports Circle of Honor
Charlie Bessette was a multi-sport athlete who lettered in football, basketball and baseball at UH after spending three and a half years in the Army during World War II. The McKinley High School graduate made a name for himself on the Rainbow football team, where he was considered a triple threat who could pass, run, and punt. During the 1948 Pineapple Bowl against the University of Redlands, he scored three touchdowns, including the go-ahead score giving the Rainbows a 33-32 come-from-behind victory.
