UH Sports Circle of Honor
Richard Furtado was a two-sport athlete for the Rainbows in the mid-1930s who made a name for himself as one of Hawai'i's all-time great track and field athletes. On the gridiron, he was a member of the Wonder Team II team of 1934. In track, he was the Hawai'i champion in the broad jump and high and low hurdles. He coached the UH track team for two years and became a veteran and gold medallist in the Rainbow Relays and Hawaiian AAU events for more than 20 years.
