Biography

2001 (Senior): Played in all 12 games, started two at linebacker...played his first season defense after being moved during spring 2001...finished sixth on the team in tackles (71)...was second on the team in interceptions (2)...tied for second on the team in passes defended (10)...compiled a career-high 16 tackles against Rice on Sept. 29...finished three games with double-digit tackles...amassed 23 tackles in his last two games...tied the school record for most blocked kicks in a game (2) by blocking two punts at SMU on Oct. 6...had two interceptions, one against Montana on Sept. 8 and another against UTEP on Oct. 13 that he returned 26 yards for a touchdown.

2000 (Junior): Played in 11 games, mostly on special teams…saw limited time at running back and rushed 10 times for 23 yards…scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 7-yard run on the last play of the game at Fresno State on Nov. 4.

1999 (Sophomore): Played in 11 games, primarily on special teams…saw action at running back with four carries for 15 yards at SMU and one carry for two yards at Tulsa.

1998 (Freshman): Played in 10 games…rushed 17 times for 63 yards… played a key role on special teams with 15 kickoff returns for 287 yards…made one catch for nine yards…had six carries for 28 yards at Fresno State on Nov. 14…returned a kickoff 44 yards at UTEP on Oct. 31.

Prep: A 1998 graduate of Skyline High School in Oakland, Calif…was coached in football by John Beam…lettered in football, basketball, and track…rushed for approximately 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns…second team all-city…named athlete-of-the-week in the Bay Area.

Personal: Born in Oakland, Calif…has two older sisters and two younger brothers…parents are Evangeline and Robert Grant of Oakland, Calif.
