Biography

2013 (Senior): Qualified for the NCAA Championships in the triple jump after placing fifth at the NCAA West Preliminary Round with a personal best 43-7.75 (13.30m)…placed 16th at the national championship earning second team All-America honors...captured the gold medal in the triple jump and bronze in the long jump at the Big West Conference Championship…leaped 42-3.25 (12.88m) to easily win the triple jump and a personal-best 19-6.75 (5.96m) to take third in the long jump…placed seventh in the heptathlon at the conference meet and broke two UH heptathlon event records in the long jump (19-0.75/5.81m) and 200-meters (25.21)…scored a personal best 4,728 points…two-time Big West Field Athlete of the Week…captured the bronze medal in the triple jump at the MPSF Indoor Championships, jumping 40-0 (12.19m)…also participated in the pentathlon at the conference meet and set new UH events records in the 60-meter hurdles (8.82) and long jump (18-5.25/5.62m)...named to Big West Academic all-conference team.
 
2012 (Junior): Qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Round in triple jump…finished 21st with a new personal best (wind-aided) result of 41-1.75 (12.54m)…won the bronze medal in triple jump at WAC Outdoor Championship with a result of 40-3.25 (12.27m), which ranks second in all-time school outdoor history…also placed fifth in heptathlon at WAC Outdoor by scoring 4,306 points…ranks eight in all-time school history in heptathlon with 4,307 points after completing first-ever heptathlon at Mt. SAC Relays…earned WAC all-academic honors.
 
2011 (Sophomore): Finished sixth in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 38-7 (11.76m) at the WAC Outdoor Championships which ranks fifth all-time in school history…also ran leadoff of the 4x100 relay team which placed sixth at WAC Outdoor…placed eighth in the triple jump at WAC Indoor with a mark of 37-3 (11.35m)…also competed in the long jump with season-best marks of 17-2 (5.23m) during the outdoor season and 16-10.75 (5.15m) during the indoor season...earned WAC all-academic honors.

Prior To UH: Attended Seattle Pacific University for one year…member of the track and field team…team captured the outdoor conference championship.

Prep: A 2009 graduate of Columbia River High School in Vancouver, Wash…lettered four times in track and field and gymnastics…also lettered twice in soccer…three-time regional champion in the triple jump and two-time regional champion in the long jump…also three-time district champion in the triple jump and long jump…named to all-state team as a senior…four-time first-team all-league selection…member of state championship gymnastic team in 2009 and four-time district champions…named first-team all-league in gymnastics in 2008….selected to second-team all-league in soccer in 2008.

Personal: Born in Fayetteville, N.C…intends to major in pre-kinesiology…has three brothers and one sister…twin sister Athena competes in cross country and track and field at Seattle Pacific…parents are Andy and Candi Alvarez of Vancouver, Wash
