2008 (Senior): Joined the team midseason, seeing first action at Boise State (Oct. 17)…played in eight games…started one game, filling in at defensive tackle at New Mexico State (Nov. 8)…recorded a season-high six tackles, including 2.0 tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks in road win over Aggies…finished season with 10 tackles, 3.0 tackles-for-loss and four quarterback hurries.

2007 (Junior): Appeared in eight games as a reserve defensive lineman...recorded season-high five tackles and lone sack against Utah State (Oct. 6)...had four tackles against Northern Colorado (Sept. 1)...posted three tackles and one quarterback hurry against Charleston Southern (Sept. 22).

Prior to UH: Played two seasons at the College of San Mateo in California...coached at CSM by Larry Owens...attended the University of Arizona for two years following high school but did not letter due to medical reasons.

Prep: A 2003 graduate of Bellarmine High School in San Jose, Calif...lettered two years in football and one in track...was an all-conference and all-section linebacker.

Personal: Has three sisters and one brother...parents are Mia and John Maka of Hillsborough, Calif.
