Biography

2002 (Sophomore): Went 2-4 in 16 appearances and one start...had a 5.11 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 49.1 innings.

2001 (Freshman): Made 15 relief appearances…his longest outing was three innings twice vs. UCLA (Feb. 2) and at San Jose State (Mar. 3)…had a season-high five strikeouts against UCLA (Feb. 2) over a three-inning stint…did not allow an earned run in five of his last six outings…was much tougher in 10 WAC showings sporting a 4.58 ERA while holding league opponents to a .200 average (RH=.204; LH=.190)…in his last eight relief stints, he allowed only 3-of-11 inherited runners to score…is the only UH player to letter in baseball whose last name begins with the letter "Q"…set the UH record for most balks (2) in an inning against Fresno State (Apr. 9)…overall opponents batted .258 (RH=.259; LH=.257).

2000 : Redshirted at Purdue University.

Prep: A 1999 graduate of Bishop Manogue Catholic High School in Reno, Nev…earned two letters in baseball…a 1998 first-team all-league pick…1999 Most Valuable Player in 3A state division…a member of the 1999 state championship team that went 39-2…had an earned run average of 1.48 in his junior year…compiled a record of 20-2 spanning spanning his junior and senior campaigns, including an 11-1 mark his senior season…batted .485 with seven homers in senior season…graduated with honors.

Personal: Born in Martinsberg, W.V…majoring in computer science…plans on joining the FBI and moving to Jamaica after graduation…favorites include the movie "The Big Lebowski," actor Steve Buscemi, and the Nolan Ryan Pitcher's Bible.
