Stanford (8-8, 0-0 Pac-12) took an early 2-0 lead to start the game on a two-run home run by Bessie Noll.

Hawai'i got one run back in the third. Sarah Muzik reached on an infield single and advanced to second on the overthrow to first. Nicole Lopez followed and she reached on an errant throw by the shortstop in which the ball pulled the first baseman off and it ricocheted off Lopez and squirted away down the line allowing Muzik to score from second.

Stanford extended their lead in the top of the fourth, scoring three runs, on three UH errors, to take a 5-1 lead.

But the 'Bows would respond, tallying three runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth. Tayana Mata drew a lead off walk but was erased at second on a fielder's choice. Ulu Matagiese the drove a single through the rightside of the infield to put runners at first and second. Breanna Ojala then ripped a double to the right-centerfield gap to score Naomi Monahan from second. Muzik followed with a solid single to center to drive in both Matagiese and Ojala. UH trailed 5-4 at the end of four innings.

Stanford, however, went on to scored two runs in both the fifth and sixth inning plus four in the seventh to pull away to a 13-4 win.

Kanani Aina Cabrales suffered the loss, snapping her three-game win streak. She dropped her record to 6-3 overall. She threw 5-2/3 innings giving up nine runs on six hits with a walk and four strike outs. Naomi Monahan closed the game, tossing the final 1-1/3 innings. She gave up four runs on six hits.

Stanford's Carolyn Lee earned the complete game win. She gave up four runs on six hits with two walks and five strike outs.

Rookie Iseri earned her first win as a Rainbow Wahine, firing all eight innings. She allowed two runs while scattering six hits with two walks and three strike outs.

Coastal Carolina reliever, Mackenzie Conrad took the loss to even her record at 1-1. She allowed one run on one hit in 1-1/3 innings of work. CCU starter Ashley Guillette threw the first six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with six walks and five strike outs.

Hawai'i loaded the bases in the bottom of the second with one out. After a ground out to short, Rachel Turner started things with an opposite-field single through the leftside of the infield. Pinch runner Sarah McAndrew moved to second and then third on back-to-back walks to Breanna Ojala and Heather Cameron. But the Chanticleers escaped unscathed getting a pair of strike outs to thwart the Rainbow rally.

Coastal Carolina (8-9, 0-0 Big South) scored in the fourth to break the scoreless game with a two-run home run by Alexis Alvino.

Hawai'i tried to mount a rally in the fifth, Keiki Carlos led off with a double to the left-centerfield gap. After a flyout to left, Carlos moved to third on a single to leftfield by Ulu Matagiese. The leftfielder bobbled the ball in left which allowed Matagiese to hustle in to second. But with runners at second and third and one out, CCU got out of the jam with a ground out to third and a swinging strike out.

Hawai'i broke through on the scoreboard in the sixth inning. Ojala drew her second walk of the game to start the inning. Later with two outs, Nicole Lopez drove in Ojala with a single down the leftfield line.

In the bottom of the seventh, Aina Cabrales drew a walk to start the inning. She moved to second on a Matagiese base hit to left. Both runners advanced when Tayana Mata's ground ball to short was mishandled which resulted with the bases loaded and no outs. CCU got two outs on a 1-2-3 ground out double play, but as they were celebrating their play, Matagiese came around third to slide in safely to tie the game at 2-2.

With the international tie-breaker in place, Coastal Carolina's Bri Chiusano started the frame on second base. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Morgan Noad. UH got the second out of the inning on a pop-out to short. Chiusano then tried to score on a wild pitch, but UH catcher Cameron made a good play on the ricochet of the backstop and flipped it to Iseri covering home plate to tag out Noad trying to score for the final out.

Hawai'i started with Ojala on second base. UH then loaded the bases as Cameron was hit by the pitch and Muzik laid down a perfect bunt-single that died in front of home plate all with no outs. After a shallow fly out to left, Carlos hit a chopper to third. The third baseman tried to make the throw to home, but the throw pulled the catcher off the plate as Ojala slid by for the game-winner, 3-2.

The Rainbow Wahine had at least two runners on base in every inning, but the CCU defense held them at bay. UH stranded 12 runners on base.

In the first game of the tournament, CCU defeated Stanford, 8-3.

The tourney continues on Saturday with a pair of games start at 12:00 p.m. with CCU vs. Stanford. Hawai'i will then take on Stanford at 2:30 pm at the RWSS.
