SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

  • Under first-year head coach Panita Thanatharn, the Rainbow Wahine finished the 2026 campaign with a 30-20 overall record, marking the 25th time the program has reached the 30-win plateau.
  • Thanatharn led Hawai‘i to a second place finish in the Big West with a 21-6 conference record—marking just the sixth time in program history—the second since rejoining the Big West in 2013—that UH has reached 20 wins in conference play. The 21 conference wins ties for the fourth most in UH history.
  • UH won seven of nine conference series—including five series sweeps.
  • Hawai‘i dominated at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium, recording a 17-4 home record.
  • UH entered the Big West Championship as the second seed. The ‘Bows won their opening game 2-0 over UC Santa Barbara, but fell to No. 1 Cal State Fullerton, 6-4 and UCSB in a rematch, 8-6 at the Anderson Family Field in Fullerton, Calif.
  • Hawai‘i tallied a 10-game win streak at the end of the season, which is the program's longest win streak since the 2013 team won 13 straight.
  • Offensively, UH hit .289 as a team with a .453 slugging percentage while blasting 46 total home runs in their 50-game schedule.
  • A cornerstone of the UH infield, Jamie McGaughey is the first UH player named to the NFCA All-Region Second Team since 2019. She was one of four Rainbow Wahine to start all 50 games, splitting time between first and third base. She posted career-highs with a .394 overall batting average, which skyrocketed to .463 in Big West play, and led UH in hits (56), doubles (12), home runs (13), RBI (43), total bases (105), and slugging percentage (.739). McGaughey also topped the roster with 18 multiple-hit games and 13 multiple-RBI games.
  • UH’s pitchers finished the season ranked second in the Big West with a 3.25 team ERA.
  • UH’s pitching staff was led by the duo of Taryn Irimata and Hannah Pitts. Irimata is the first UH player to receive NFCA Third-Team honors since 2023, and she is just the third Rainbow Wahine to be voted Big West Pitcher of the Year. She finished the year with a 13-9 overall record and a 10-2 record in the BW. Overall, she finished the season with a league-best 2.49 ERA across 129.1 innings pitched. She struck out 87 batters and threw 14 complete games –including six complete game shutouts. In conference games, she recorded a minuscule 1.60 ERA in 78.2 innings while holding opponents to a .195 batting average. Irimata overcame a slow start as she began the season with a 2-6 record and then won 11 of her next 13 decisions. Pitts posted an 11-4 record with a 2.65 ERA overall. In conference play, she recorded an 8-1 record with a 2.21 ERA. She allowed the fewest walks among primary starters (22) and held opponents to a .274 batting average.
  • Defensively, Hawai‘i finished second in the league with a .973 fielding percentage. Amongst the starters, outfielders Maycen Gibbs (97 chances) and Kayara Tuiloma (64 chances), catcher Kolbi Kochi (63 chances), and pitcher Taryn Irimata (25 chances) all finished the season with perfect 1.000 fielding percentages.
  • The ‘Bows stole 51 total bases in 65 attempts—marking UH’s most stolen bases since stealing 59 in 1998. Individually, sophomore utility player Rhea Furtado led Hawai‘i with 14 stolen bases—tying Nawai Kaupe for the most stolen bases since 2022.
