2016 (Junior): Appeared in 52 games with 50 starts—45 in centerfield, four in leftfield and one as the designated player…finished the season with a .239 batting average (28-for-117) and a .375 on-base percentage (second on the team)…scored a career-high 14 runs while posting three doubles; two home runs; and a career-high 15 RBI (tied her for third on the team) …was hit-by-the-pitch a team-high 22 times and is now ranked No. 3 in the UH career record book getting hit by the pitch 41 times in her three years thus far…recorded four, two-hit games and four two-RBI games…in the last two games against Long Beach State (May 14), she was hit by a pitch three times in her six at bats...in conference, had a .143 batting average (5-for-35) with three runs scored with one RBI and one walk, while getting plunked 10 times…named a UH Scholar-Athlete with honors (3.21-3.50 cumulative GPA).
2015 (Sophomore): Appeared in 43 games with 32 starts--21 in centerfield and 11 in leftfield...finished the season with a career-high .267 batting average (23-for-86)...also posted career-highs with 86 at-bats, 23 hits, 12 runs scored, four doubles, one triple, three home runs, and 14 RBI...in conference, raised her average to .323 (10-for-31) which was second on the team...scored three runs with two doubles, a home run and four RBI in Big West games....scored a career-high two runs twice against UTEP (Feb. 22) and San Jose State (Feb. 27)...against Utah Valley in Las Vegas, Nev. (Feb. 13), hit her first triple which cleared the bases which were loaded in a 17-3, five inning win...was voted to the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha All-Tournament team...named a 2015 UH Scholar-Athlete.
2014 (Freshman): Appeared in 45 games with 35 starts—30 in leftfield; three in rightfield; and two as the designated player…overall hit .223 for the season (17-for-73) with a .288 slugging percentage…scored five runs with a double and a home run with 13 RBI in rookie season…recorded first collegiate hit against UCLA (Feb. 8)…went 1-for-3 with a career-high three RBI on first home run against No. 2 Oregon (Mar. 14)…reached base safely in 10 consecutive games…in conference games, hit .200 (6-for-20) with two runs scored and five RBI.
Prep: Graudated from Waimea High School in 2013...lettered one year in basketball and four years in softball...helped lead the Menehune to the league championship four years in a row and the DII state championship in 2012...co-Most Valuable Player for DII Tournament...member of league all-star team all four years...also earned all-state honors three years and was the league MVP and Outstanding Female Athlete in 2013...as a junior, hit .679 (38-for-56) with four doubles and six home runs. She also notched 31 runs with 34 RBIs and chalked up 10 stolen bases...is the fourth player from Waimea HS to sign with Hawai‘i--including associate head coach Dee Wisneski...as a junior, played on the USA Athletes International Softball Team and competed in the Czech Republic, Holland, Russia, Germany, and Prague.
Personal: Born in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i...majoring in family resources...was club softball teammates with current Rainbow Wahine softball players Leisha Liilii and Keiki Carlos...has two sisters and one brother--Siasau Matagiese who is a senior defensive lineman on the Rainbow Warrior football team...is the cousin of former Rainbow Wahine All-America shortstop, Jessica Iwata...parents are Leila and Aunese Matagiese of Waimea, Kaua'i.
