The Hawkeyes (8-16) scored twice in the top of the first with the aid of four base hits, then scored another in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Iowa added an insurance run in the seventh for the game's final margin.

Rachael Turner had both of the Rainbow Wahine's base hits. Brittany Hitchcock absored the loss.

Reliever Shayla Starkenburg got the win, tossing the Hawkeyes' final four innings.

After two scoreless frames, the Longhoards (19-6) broke through on a sacrifice fly in the third and an infield single in the fourth to take a 2-0 advantage.

Hawai'i got a run back in the bottom half of the fourth when Keiki Carlos scampered home on a wild pitch.

Texas got the run back in the fifth to go up 3-1 on a two-out base hit. Then in the bottom of the frame, the Rainbow Wahine, aided by two Longhorn errors, loaded the bases. Ulu Matagiese was then plunked to bring home a UH run, cutting the deficit to 3-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Sarah Muzik led off the inning with a single, followed by another single from Carlos. Pinch hitter Kanani Aina Cabrales worked a full count and eventually walked to load the bases. However the Rainbow Wahine were unable to plate the tying run.
