Softball Sets 2026 Fall Schedule, Opens vs. Chaminade Friday

HONOLULU — Head softball coach Panita Thanatharn released the 2026 fall schedule, which begins this week Friday, Oct. 9, with an exhibition game against Chaminade

. First pitch is slated for 5:30 p.m. at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium

.

The softball team's fall schedule includes single games vs. Chaminade this week and against Hawai'i Pacific on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 5:30 p.m

.

The Rainbow Wahine will then host their annual Hawai'i Fall Invitational from Thursday, Nov. 5, through Sunday, Nov. 8

. For the second straight season, UH will host all three Division II Hawai'i schools — Chaminade, Hawai'i Hilo, and Hawai'i Pacific — plus Fullerton College over four days at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium

.

The 'Bows return 19 players from the 2026 squad, which recorded a 30-20 overall record in Thanatharn's first season

. UH finished second in the Big West, notching a 21-6 conference mark that ties for the fourth-most conference wins in program history

. Hawai'i tallied a 10-game win streak at the end of the season, which was the program's longest win streak since the 2013 team won 13 straight

.

On offense, senior first/third baseman Jamie McGaughey started all 50 games while hitting .394 (56-for-142)

. She led UH with 56 hits, 13 doubles, 12 home runs, 43 RBIs, and 26 walks

. McGaughey became the first Rainbow Wahine since 2019 to earn National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Second Team honors

.

UH pitcher Taryn Irimata leads UH into the 2027 season

. She earned NFCA All-Region Third Team honors and was named Big West Pitcher of the Year after finishing the season with a 13-9 overall and 10-2 Big West record

. She led the league with a 2.49 ERA in 129.1 innings pitched, striking out 90 to just 38 walks while firing six complete-game shutouts

.

Many of Hawai'i's returnees for the 2027 season were recognized by the Big West coaches, led at the top by Thanatharn, who was named Co-Coach of the Year alongside Cal State Fullerton's Gina Oaks Garcia

. Shortstop Milan Ah Yat, pitcher Irimata, and third/first baseman McGaughey were all named to the All-BW First Team, while outfielder Kayara Tuiloma garnered Second Team honors and Briana Maio-Silver was named to the All-Freshman Team
