HONOLULU—The University of Hawai`i softball team (30-16, 8-7 WAC) was swept in Saturday night's doubleheader by Boise State, 7-4 and 3-2 at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. 
Kaia Parnaby suffered both losses on the night to drop her record to 11-5 overall and 5-4 in the Western Athletic Conference.
 
 
GAME 2: Boise State 7, Hawai`i 4
 
The Broncos posted two runs in the top of the second inning. Devon Bridges led the inning off by reaching on a fielding error on the shortstop. The next batter attempted to bunt Bridges over, but first baseman 
Sarah Robinson crashed hard and erased the lead runner at second. On the play, the batter-runner rounded first after the ball was in the pitcher's circle for the second out of the inning. But Vanessa Alvarez followed with a single to left and moved to second on a wild pitch. Alvarez then scored on a single by Kelly Sweeney. Later Sweeney scored on an RBI single to right by Kellie Caplan to go up 2-0.
 
Boise State added two more runs in the third on a two run bomb over the leftfield fence that drove in Mackenzie Whyte (who had walked) to push UH's lead to 4-0.
 
The visiting Broncos extended their lead to 6-0 in the fifth on a two-run home run by Christina Capobianco to left-centerfield that drove in Allie Crump who had reached earlier on a single to left.
 
Hawai`i responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring two runs of their own, starting with a lead-off home run by 
Kelly Majam that sailed over the right-centerfield fence. Later, with two outs, 
Jocelyn Enrique hit a little flair single over the third baseman. Enrique moved to second on a passed ball and then scored on a single by 
Makani Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu to right. At the end of five innings, BSU led UH 6-2.
 
Alex Aguirre led the sixth inning off with a single up the middle and was followed by 
Kaile Nakao who drew a walk to put runners at first and second. After a foul-fly out to the catcher, 
Jasey Jensen was hit by a pitch to load the bases for 
Jessica Iwata who lined a single off of the pitcher's right foot to score Aguirre. Enrique then drove in Nakao from third with a sacrifice fly to centerfield to cut UH's deficit to 6-4.
 
Boise State would rally again in the seventh though to get a run back. Devon Bridges led off with a single to center and moved to second with one out when Lela Work was hit by a pitch. Sweeny then hit a single through the leftside of the infield to load the base. Tazz Weatherly then drew a walk to force pinch-runner Ashley Collier home, to give Boise a three run cushion.
 
UH starter 
Kaia Parnaby lasted just 2.1 innings, and fell to 11-4 on the season. She gave up four runs on four hits with a walk and two strike outs. 
Jenna Rodriguez started the game in rightfield, switched to designated player and then entered the game in relief in the third inning. Rodriguez fired the final 4.2 innings, giving up three runs on seven hits with a walk and two strike outs.
 
Boise State's Allie Crump earned the win to raise her record to 12-5, throwing five innings. She gave up two runs on four walks with a strike outs. Lela Work tossed the final 2.0 innings, giving up two runs on three hits with a walk and three strike outs.
 
 
GAME 3: Boise State 3, Hawai`i 2
 
The 'Bows got on the scoreboard first, scoring two runs in the second. Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu drove in both runs with a single to left field that scored both 
Melissa Gonzalez and Alex Aguirre for the early 2-0 lead.
 
The Bronco's however knotted the score at 2-2 in the fourth on an RBI double by Sweeney and a sacrifice fly to right by Vanessa Alvarez.
 
Boise State then overtook UH in the fifth inning, going up 3-2. Holly Bourke led the rally off with a walk. The following batter, Whyte, then laid down a sacrifice bunt, but the second baseman dropped the throw, allowing Bourke to hustle to third to leave runners at the corners. With the infield drawn in, Crump drove a single through the rightside to score Bourke from third and give Boise State the lead for good.
 
UH starter 
Stephanie Ricketts threw the first 3.1 innings, giving up two runs on four hits with a walk and five strike outs. Parnaby suffered the loss, dropping her record to 11-5 on the season. She gave up one run on two hits with two walks and a strike out in 3.2 innings.
 
Boise State's ace, Aubray Zell (12-2) earned the complete game win, giving up two runs on four hits with no walks and eight strike outs.
 
The Rainbow Wahine wore special pink uniforms in support of Under Armour's "Power in Pink" promotion for breast cancer awareness. It was the first time UH has been swept at home since 2005 when Fresno State took all three games April 2 and 3 (1-3; 3-5 in nine innings; and 0-1).
