2016 (Senior): Named All-Big West honorable mention…finished season with the lowest single-season ERA in program history at 1.03…appeared in 21 games, all in relief…gave up only six hits and three earned runs all season long with an opponent batting average of .075…struck out 29 batters in 26.1 innings with a record of 3-2…ranked second on the team in saves with four…did not allow an earned run until 17th appearance of the season at UC Santa Barbara (5/1)…went two innings and got the win at CS Northridge (4/23), striking out three in a 10 inning victory…held on to a one run lead for a save in a 3-2 win at #18 CS Fullerton (5/22), going 1.1 innings and striking out one.
2015 (Junior): Made 18 relief appearances, the fourth most for the ‘Bows, registering an 0-2 record and 4.58 ERA…Struck out 21 batters through 19.2 innings of work, with opposing batters hitting .243 against…Held opponents without an earned run in 11 outings, allowing no hits in seven (7) appearances…In his longest appearance of the year, going three scoreless (3.0) innings against New Mexico State (3/22), he struck out a season-high six (6) batters with no walks, holding the Aggies to just three (3) hits…In 2.2 innings at UC Irvine (3/29), he gave two (2) hits, but allowed no earned runs and struck out two (2)…In 2.1 innings versus Hofstra (2/21), he allowed only one (1) hit and no runs, striking out one (1) with a walk…Made a strong showing against Baylor (3/6) at Minute Maid Park, striking out the side and allowing no hits.
Prior To UH: Played two (2) seasons at (San Joaquin) Delta College in Stockton, California under Coach Reed Peters, aiding the Mustangs to not only a Big 8 Conference Championship, but also a California Community College Athletics Association (CCCAA) State Runner-Up finish in 2014, after DC made it to the California Elite in 2013 and finished with No. 3 NorCal ranking…As a sophomore starter for the Mustangs, Valencia collected a record of 10-2 and 2.40 ERA through 93.2 innings in 16 appearances…In his second season, Valencia registered 98 strikeouts and opponents batted .199 against him…Earning a spot in the rotation during his freshman season at DC, Valencia went 4-2 with a 2.59 ERA in 14 appearances, striking out 53 batters through 76.1 innings pitched…Valencia earned first team All-Big 8 honors in 2014.
Prep: A 2012 graduate of Escalon High School in Escalon, Calif., Valencia was a three-year letterman in baseball under Coach Greg Largent...Was part of the EHS foundation that earned three (3) consecutive Trans Valley League (TVL) Championships of a total of five (5) straight, with the Cougars garnering a record of 37-2 during Valencia’s playing time there…During that span, EHS earned two (2) straight California State Championships (2011, 2012), on top of three (3) consecutive CIF Sac Joaquin Section Championships (2010-2012)…Through his career at Escalon on the mound, Valencia tallied a record of 29-2 with an 0.81 ERA, striking out 298 batters with just 46 walks…At the plate, Valencia registered a career batting average of .428 with 102 RBI…For his efforts, he was named all-district and All-Trans Valley League each of his three-year career, culminating in a TVL Pitcher of the Year Award following his senior season (2012)…That year, after logging a record of 11-1 with 118 strikeouts versus 18 walks, Valencia was named to the Stockton Record All-Area Team, was the Modesto Bee All-District Player of the Year and was a member of the California Small Schools All-State Team.
