Biography

2016 (Senior): Named All-Big West honorable mention…started all 51 games he appeared in at shortstop…batting average of.349 on the season led the team and was the fifth highest in the Big West…also had the most hits on the team (68), the highest on-base-percentage (.407), and most stolen bases (6)…was second on the team in runs scored with 28 and third in RBI with 23…also finished in a tie for second in doubles with nine…was solid defensively finishing with the fifth most assists in the Big West with 156, while recording 80 putouts on the year…had a hit in 39-of-51 games played in…hit safely in 12 straight games from 2/14-3/6, hitting .429 in that stretch…had team-leading 20 multi-hit games…had three four-hit performances on the year at UH-Hilo (2/14), at UC Davis (4/8), at UC Santa Barbara (5/1)…earned Big West Player of the Week honors on April 11 after going 8-for-15 with five RBI in a series at UC Davis.

2015 (Junior): Started in 50-of-53 games on the year at shortstop for the Rainbow Warriors…Climbing the hitting charts down the stretch in Big West play, Sheldon-Collins topped UH with a .295 batting average, collecting 49 hits, including six (6) doubles and two (2) triples…Tallied 11 RBI and scored 24 runs, registering 11 sacrifice bunts, which tied Alan Baldwin for the team lead and second in the Big West (60th NCAA)…Ranked 49th toughest to strike out in the nation, with only 13 on the year…Reached base at a .341 clip, collecting 2-of-2 stolen bases…Batted .316 against Big West opposition…Was a defensive stalwart in his first season with UH, registering .967 fielding percentage with a team-high and Big West third-ranked 186 assists, in addition to 81 putouts, contributing on a BWC fifth-best 38 double plays…Garnered All-Big West honorable mention accolades.

Prior To UH: Played two seasons of junior college baseball at Iowa Western Community College under Coach Marc Rardin…As a sophomore, he hit .326 with 12 doubles, a triple and a home run, batting in 28 runs and scoring 51 of his own…Sheldon-Collins recorded a .420 on-base percentage and stole nine bases…He was also a stalwart defender, holding a .963 fielding percentage and leading the team in assists (110), turning a team-high 14 double plays…That season, he aided the Reivers to a dominating run through the postseason, ending in an NJCAA World Series Championship with a 17-5 win over Miami Dade…IWCC finished with a 56-11 final record…In the tournament, Sheldon-Collins was named to the All-Tournament team and earned Outstanding Defensive Player honors.
During his freshman season, IWCC went 45-14 with Conference and Region XI Championships…Sheldon-Collins was named All-Region XI after batting a team fourth-best .371 on the year, registering eight (8) doubles, a triple and a home run…He also recorded 34 RBI and scored 45 runs…He stole 10 bases, reaching base at a .411 clip…Even as a rookie, he was a defensive force, putting together a .956 fielding percentage, leading the team in assists (111) and double plays (13).

Prep: Represented Australia at the 2010 U-18 AAA World Baseball Championships…was also selected for the AA U-17 National Team

Personal: Switch-hitter born in Melbourne, Victoria, he is the son of Matthew and Debbie Sheldon-Collins…His father  was a two-time Olympic shortstop, was a member of the Australian National Team for over 10 years and played eight seasons in the Australian Baseball League—where he was noted as the hardest batter to strike out in the history of the league, and is also in the Australian Hall of Fame…The history of the Sheldon-Collins family in victory hardly ends there, as uncle, Simon, was an Olympian and ABL player, and his sister, Casey, was a member of the 2014 U-18 Women’s Australian National Team and Victoria Blues.
