Biography

2009-10 (Senior): Recorded two personal bests at the Conference USA Championships (Feb. 24-27) after placing sixth the 100 breaststroke (55.69) and seventh in the 200 breast (2:04.41)…swam against Wisconsin (Jan. 9) and finished fifth in the 200 breast (2:10.75)…finished fifth in the 100 breast (56.39) and was part of the team that placed second in the 400 medley relay (3:21.38) at the Toshiba Classic (Nov. 19-21)…swam against Stanford (Oct. 10) and was part of the team that placed second in the 200 free relay and finished fourth in the 100 breast (59.02).

2008-09 (Junior): Finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke (57.18) and the 200 breaststroke (2:06.88) at the Conference USA Championships (Feb. 25-28)…participated in the Big West Shootout (Nov. 7-8) and finished fifth in the 200 breast (2:10.56) and 100 breast (59.35).
2007-08 (Sophomore): Finished third in the 200 yard breast event (2:10.33) against Arizona State (Sept. 28)...finished fourth in 200 yeard breast event (2:04.67) at the Conference USA Championships...recorded second best time on the team in the 100 breast (56.83) and the 200 breast (2:06.92) events.

2006-07 (Freshman): Competed in the 100 Breast, finished second on the team with a 56.83 at the C-USA Men's Invitational...also recorded a 2:11.72 in the 200 Breast at the Texas Invitational, good for third on the team.

Prep: A 2006 graduate of Omaha Gross Catholic High School in Nebraska...lettered four years in swimming and three in football...was an all-state swimmer for head coach Docker Hartfield.

Personal: Born in Virginia Beach, Va...plans to major in pre-med...plans to attend medical school following graduation...has one sister...parents are Norma and Walter Kirkland III.
