Appeared in 14 games, making 11 starts…went 5-2 with a 4.11 ERA, recording 39 strikeouts with 34 walks in 81 innings pitched…picked up the win in his first career start going seven innings, giving up two runs with four strikeouts versus San Francisco (February 26)…pitched a career-first complete game with four strikeouts and one walk in a win over Oral Roberts (March 5) at the Dairy Queen Classic, allowing four runs, none earned…went eight strong innings to get the win versus San Jose State (March 26), surrendering just one run on five hits with three strikeouts…struck out a season-high five batters with one walk in seven innings, taking the no-decision against Nevada (April 1)…threw eight innings of one-run ball with four strikeouts and two walks for the win against Cal State Fullerton (May 6).
Prior To UH: Played one season at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California, missing two seasons due to injury…registered a 4-2 record and 2.43 ERA in 13 appearances (10 starts) in 2016, striking out 41 batters across 55.2 innings…averaged 6.63 strikeouts per nine innings on the year…received first-team all-Orange Empire Conference (OEC) honors…was on SC team with former UH pitcher Tyler Brashears.
Prep: A 2013 graduate of Laguna Beach High School in Calif., playing three years of baseball for the Breakers, aiding the squad to the 2013 Orange Coast League (OCL) title as a senior…earned team MVP and Pitcher of the Year Awards after registering a 10-0 record to tie the school record for wins and the record for most wins by an undefeated pitcher…received first-team all-OCL, League MVP and all-CIF Southern Section Division 4 accolades…during that season, tallied a 1.21 ERA through 11 starts, striking out 52 batters in 58 innings…also batted .377 with 21 RBI and 13 runs…as a junior, earned a 5-4 record with a 2.66 ERA and 28 strikeouts…finished his prep career with a 20-4 record, 2.10 ERA and 102 strikeouts.
