SANTA BARBARA, Calif - The University of Hawai'i women's track and field team was led the 4x100m relay team's third-place finish on the final day of the Big West Track and Field Championships at UC Santa Barbara's Pauley Track Facility on Saturday. In the overall team competition, the Rainbow Wahine finished with 37 points to take ninth place in this year's championships.
The 4x100m relay team of
Martina Latting,
Raion Black,
Natasha Currence and
Britney Price finished in 46.70 for third place to win the bronze on the day. The performance, which was the best by the Rainbow Wahine on the season and the third best in program history, was good for six points toward the team total.
Kristen LaCosse placed fifth in the finals of the 100m hurdles in 14.16 to pick up four team points. Later in the day, she secured fourth place in the 400m hurdles thanks to a time of 58.83 - the second-fastest time in UH history and a personal record.
On her second attempt in the shot put,
Meg Jackson came up with a distance of 12.85m (42'2") to take seventh place for two team points.
In the hammer,
Jada Pierce had a distance of 47.25m (155') and Jackson finished with a mark of 45.25m (148'5").
On the track,
Jessica Cushing-murray posted a time of 18:04.61 in the 5,000m.
Rounding out the day, the 4x400 relay team of LaCosse, Currence, Latting and Black finished in 3:50.36 for eighth place.
