FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Lilian Turban kicked off action for the Hawai'i track and field team at the NCAA West First Round by placing 30th in the javelin Thursday at John McDonnell Field.
The senior put up a mark of 46.09m (151-2) on her third and final attempt of the day, cracking the top 30 after coming into the meet ranked 46th in the West Region. In rainy conditions, Turban fouled on her first attempt then put up a toss of 45.74m (150-1) on her second attempt before ending the series with her best toss of the day.
Turban will now turn her attention to the high jump on Saturday, while
Tara Wyllie will compete in the triple jump and
Samaria Vital in the discus.
Robyn Larkan was a late scratch in the 100m hurdles due to a previous injury. She ends her first year with the Rainbow Wahine as the program record holder in the event with a time of 13.44 set at the Big West Championship.
