IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i track and field standout
Lilian Turban has been named a recipient of the Big West Service and Leadership Award Tuesday, adding another prestigious accolade to one of the most decorated resumes in Rainbow Wahine history.
Turban is one of nine Big West student-athletes to be recipients of the award, which recognizes those who have distinguished themselves through meaningful service, impactful leadership, and academic achievement while making lasting contributions to their campuses and communities.
On the track, Turban cemented herself as one of the elite jumpers in the country, earning All-American honors twice in the high jump during her collegiate career. She captured national attention when she finished fourth in the high jump at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships to earn first-team All-America honors. The following year, Turban placed 10th nationally in the high jump at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships, claiming second-team All-America recognition.
Turban has enjoyed one of the most successful careers in school history within conference competition. She is an eight-time conference champion, claiming five Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) indoor titles and three Big West outdoor crowns. Her dominance at the conference level also earned her the title of Big West Championship Field Athlete of the Meet twice during her career.
Her dedication extends far beyond the field of play. Turban is a four-time Academic All-District selection and reached the pinnacle of academic recognition when she was named a 2024 Academic All-American. With that recognition, she became just the second student-athlete in UH track and field history to earn the prestigious Academic All-America honor.
Additionally, she was recently named the 2026 Jack Bonham Award winner, recognizing her with the highest honor bestowed upon a Hawai'i student-athlete. Turban's legacy is heavily etched across the Hawai'i record books. She remarkably ranks in the top 10 in program history across five different events. Among her top marks, she sits at No. 2 all-time in both the indoor (1.86m) and outdoor (1.87m) high jump, No. 5 in the outdoor javelin (46.53m), and No. 7 in the outdoor shot put (14.67m).
