FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Hawai'i women's track and field team delivered strong performances on the national stage the at the NCAA First Round Saturday at John McDonell Field.
Samaria Vital finished 29th in the discus with a toss of 50.74m (166-6) on her second attempt, moving her up nine spots from the No. 38 in the West Region heading into the meet. Vital closes her UH career with the seventh-best discus toss in program history at 51.95m (170-5), accomplished at the Big West Championship.
Tara Wyllie also improved upon her regional standing, placing 28th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.90m (42-4). Wyllie leaves Hawai'i with the No. 2 mark in program history in the event at 12.93m (42-5.25), and has competed in the NCAA First Round triple jump three times in her career.
Lilian Turban closed out her illustrious collegiate career by clearing 1.71m in the high jump. The All-American ended her career as the Jack Bonham Award winner – honoring the top student-athlete in the athletic department both academically and athletically. She also won six individual conference championships and earned All-America honors in 2023.
