Rainbow Wahine Shine at Triton Invitational on Day Two

SAN DIEGO - Sophomore Kristen LaCosse enjoyed a career day to highlight the University of Hawaiʻi women's track and field team's effort on Saturday at the Triton Invitational, an event hosted by UC San Diego at Triton Stadium.

LaCosse set personal records in the 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles and the long jump on Saturday. The Indiana native posted the third-fastest 100m hurdles time in program history in 14.04.

In the 400m hurdles, LaCosse broke one minute for the first time in her career, securing a time of 59.56 for third place at the event. The time is also good for number three in UH history. LaCosse reached 5.87m (19'3.25") in the long jump on her second attempt, besting her previous career mark of 5.82m from earlier this outdoor season.

Calli-Ann Abbott also posted a personal-record long jump distance of 5.56m (18'3") and finished 10th in the 100m hurdles on the day in 14.30.

In the 100m, Raion Black turned in a time of 12.05 for ninth with Martina Latting not far behind in 13th place at 12.11. Latting went on to run a 25.15 in the 200m.

Danielle Girard and Haley Beaumont ran near identical times in the 800m with Girard finishing in  2:21.22 and Beaumont finishing at 2:21.42.

In the longer events, Beaumont clocked in at 4:50.34 in the 1500m, and Alison Bowman ran 3,000m steeplechase time of 11:44.05.

In the pole vault, Nina Bean and Krista Rados both cleared 3.55m (11'7.75") with Megan Fereira getting over the bar at 3.40m (11'1.75").

Meg Jackson turned in a top 10 finish on the day, securing eighth in the javelin with a mark of 41.75m (136'11"). Kathryn Philpott also had a solid day in the javelin, finishing with a distance of 35.97m (118').

In the shot put, Jackson reached 12.45m (40'10.25"). Abbott was close behind with a mark of 12.05m (39'6.5"), while Brittany Kamau followed with a distance of 11.78m (38'7.75").

Next up is a trip to southern California next weekend to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational and Multi, Mt. Sac Relays, Pacific Coast Intercollegiate and the Beach Invitational.
