HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors (12-20) baseball team dropped its Easter Sunday (April 5) finale with UC Davis (19-10-1), as the offense never really got on track in the 4-0 shutout at Les Murakami Stadium.

Two UC Davis doubles and two stolen bases pushed the Aggies ahead 2-0 after the first frame, as Tino Lipson stole third and scored on a pickoff error as catcher Stephen Pollakov tried to beat him to the bag. Nick Lynch followed, scoring on an RBI grounder by Austin March.

Reaching on a two-out walk in the second, Brad Pluschkell stole second and reached third on a passed ball, later coming home courtesy of an Evan Heptig RBI single for the 3-0 advantage.

Entering in relief of starter Kyle Von Ruden in the third inning, Andrew Jones kept the Aggies at bay for six full innings, keeping the 'Bows within striking distance, but UC Davis starter Max Cordy pitched a gem of his own to keep UH off the board.

In three of the final of the final four innings, the 'Bows had at least one runner in scoring position, but missed on the scoring opportunities, as Zach Stone combined with Cordy to pitch the shutout, while the Aggies added an insurance run in the top of the ninth on a double off reliever Cody Culp.

Von Ruden (1-3) takes the loss for UH, throwing two (2.0) innings and allowing three (3) hits, three (3) runs, with one (1) walk and no strikeouts. Jones went a career-long 6.1 innings, allowing three (3) hits and one (1) run, with one (1) walk and four (4) strikeouts.

Cordy (7-0) went long for the Aggies, throwing eight (8.0) innings, allowing seven (7) hits with one (1) walk and six (6) strikeouts.
At the plate, shortstop Jacob Sheldon-Collins went 2-for-3, while both first baseman Eric Ramirez and second baseman Stephen Ventimilia each were 2-for-4.

The fourth game of the UC Davis series was a non-conference contest and will not affect Big West standings. The 'Bows are 3-3 in conference play after sweeping the Aggies in the first three games of the series.

Next on the slate is a trip back to California, as the Rainbow Warriors travel to San Luis Obispo to meet the Cal Poly Mustangs (10-18, 1-2 Big West), who fell in conference play to Cal State Fullerton this weekend on the road.
