Twohig Elevated to Role of Hitting Coach and Recruiting Coordinator

HONOLULU – Hawai'i baseball head coach Rich Hill announced Friday that assistant coach Jordon Twohig has been named the team's new hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. Twohig elevates to the expanded role after completing a highly successful first season on the Rainbow Warrior coaching staff in 2026.

During his debut campaign in Manoa, Twohig assisted with the team's catchers and hitters while also heavily aiding the program's recruiting efforts. His impact was immediately felt behind the plate, where he mentored sophomore catcher Jake Redding. Under Twohig's guidance, Redding delivered a stellar defensive season, committing just a single passed ball and allowing only 26 stolen bases across his 43 starts at catcher.

"Jordon made an immediate impact with our program in his first year and brings an experienced voice to lead our offense with a great blend of new school analytics and old school mentality," said Hill. "He has a superpower of human connection and is a beast on the recruiting trail."

Twohig also helped guide a Hawai'i offense that found its stride in the second half of the season. The Rainbow Warriors batted .274 over their final 25 games, averaging 9.2 hits and 5.1 runs per contest during that crucial stretch. His promotion capitalizes on a 20-year coaching career defined by elite talent development and recruiting, having coached or recruited 56 players who were selected in the MLB Draft, including 11 who reached the major leagues.

Prior to arriving at Hawai'i in July 2025, Twohig spent two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Charleston Southern from 2023 to 2024, where he landed the program's first-ever top-100 recruiting class. He previously served as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Saint Mary's from 2020 to 2022, taking charge of the Gaels' offense.

Twohig's extensive West Coast ties include a highly successful six-year stint as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at CSUN from 2014 to 2019. Serving as the Matadors' hitting and outfield coach, he helped lead the program to 120 victories from 2014 to 2017—the winningest four-year span in school history. He also spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Washington from 2011 to 2013, where 10 of his recruits were eventually drafted.

In addition to his elite assistant coaching pedigree, Twohig boasts championship-level head coaching experience. He led Ohlone College from 2008 to 2010, guiding the program to a California state championship in 2010. During that remarkable run, he compiled a 94-43 overall record, captured a pair of regional championships, and earned ABCA Pacific Division National Coach of the Year honors.
