MacCorquodale, Apine In Action At NCAA West Prelims

Day 2 Results

EUGENE, Ore. – University of Hawai'i track and field athletes Emma MacCorquodale and Madara Apine competed on the second day of the NCAA West Preliminary Round, Friday, at Oregon's Hayward Field.
 
Competing in the preliminary round for the second straight year, MacCorquodale finished 27th in the hammer throw with a mark of 179-6 (54.71m). Just two weeks ago, the Nanaimo, British Columbia native captured the bronze medal at the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. The junior placed 41st at last year's Preliminary Round.
 
Apine placed 30th in the triple jump after a leap of 39-5.75 (12.03m). The WAC bronze medalist improved from last year's 33rd place finish at the West Prelims.
 
Three UH athletes, including WAC discus champion TeRina Keenan WAC high jump champion Sarah Saddleton, will be in action on Saturday. Also competing in the high jump is sophomore Samantha Balentine.
 
The top 12 finishers in each event qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships next month in Des Moines, Iowa.
