STANFORD/HAYWARD, Calif. – The Hawai'i women's track and field team wrapped up a solid opening day of performances at the Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Classic Friday.
Sophomore
Nora Fischer climbed up the program 400m top 10 list, running 55.69 to move into eighth place all-time at UH. Fischer entered the day 10th all-time after running 56.03 the last time out at the UCR Spring Classic.
Lilian Turban continued her strong final season as a Rainbow Wahine, placing fifth in the javelin invitational section with a throw of 45.31m (148-8). The senior still remains in the program top 10 in three different outdoor field events (high jump, javelin, shot put). Turban also placed seventh in the shot put invitational section with a mark of 14.06 (45-0.75).
A pair of Hawai'i hurdlers moved on to Saturday's finals at the Stanford Invitational after strong runs in the prelims. Current UH record-holder
Robyn Larkan ran 14.17 to qualify in eighth place while
Tara Wyllie finished right behind her in 14.19 to claim the ninth and final spot in the finals.
Freshman
Lisa Martensson cracked the UH top 10 in the 400m hurdles, running 1:01.18 to take over eighth place in program history.
