HONOLULU—The No. 14/17 University of Hawai`i softball team (16-4) defeated Tokyo Women's College of Physical Education, 1-0 in an exhibition game on Thursday night. Pitcher
Jenna Rodriguez went the distance, tossing a three-hit shut out at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Rodriguez struck out eight batters and walked just one in the complete game win.
The 'Bows posted one run in the bottom of the first inning that held up for the victory.
Tara Anguiano led off with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Jasey Jensen. Anguiano then scooted to third on a ground out to the pitcher by
Jazmine Zamora. Rodriguez then drew a walk to put runners at the corner for
Jocelyn Enrique who came through with a single through the rightside of the infield to drive in Anguiano from third.
Hawai`i catcher Enrique led UH at the plate, going 2-for-3 with the RBI.
TWCPE starter, Kazumi Hirahara also threw a complete game, allowing the one run on five hits with three walks and eight strike outs.
Sixteen Rainbow Wahine got to play tonight in the exhibition game which will not count towards their regular season record or individual statistics.
Hawai`i continues play in the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament tomorrow at 6:00 pm against Longwood (12-3).
