Track & Field Puts On Show At Boise Challenge

Final Results

NAMPA, Idaho – In its final indoor competition before the Western Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks, the University of Hawai'i track and field team exhibited some impressive performances at the Boise State Team Challenge at Jackson Track.
 
Ashley Aitken captured first place in the 800-meter run at 2:15.57 while teammate Ashlee Jimenez set a personal best with a time of 2:18.99 that was good for sixth place.
 
Madara Apine won the triple jump competition with a mark of 39-7 (12.06m) while also placing sixth in the long jump at 17-4.75 (5.30m). In the same events, Candace Alvarez placed third in the triple jump at 38-1.5 (11.62m) and 12th in the long jump (16-10.75/5.15m).
 
Other Rainbow Wahine setting new personal bests were Ashley Satterwhite in the 200-meters (25.81), Careena Onosai in the shot put (42-11/13.08m), and Joanna Franke-Kuhn in the weight throw (49-1.5/14.97m).
 
In addition to Franke-Kuhn, two other UH athletes placed in the Top 10 as Anika Borden was fourth (54-1/16.48m) and Emma MacCorquodale finished seventh (52-4.75/15.97m).
 
Other notables included Sarah Saddleton tying for second in the high jump at 5-3 (1.60m), Mallory Ramsey placing sixth in the pole vault at 11-5.75 (3.50m), and TeRina Keenan finishing fourth in the shot put at 43-1.75 (13.15m).
 
The WAC Indoor Championships will also take place at Jackson Track in Nampa, Idaho, Feb. 24-26.
