HONOLULU -- The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (16-33,5-18) fell to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (20-31, 6-20) 7-0 at the Les Murakami Stadium Friday. Adam Kirkendall (6-3) got the win for Louisiana Tech while
Sean Yamashita (2-8) picked up the loss in his last home start. The ticketed attendance for the game was 2,577.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead in the second inning off an RBI single by Mike Hall. Louisiana Tech then added runs in the third and fourth innings to take the 3-0 lead.
That was more than enough for Kirkendall, who took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. The junior ended the night with a complete game shutout, giving up two hits while striking out 11.
Louisiana Tech then added three more runs in the sixth and one, off a home run by Ryan Jackson, in the eighth to give the Bulldogs the 7-0 win.
The 'Bows will play their home finale tomorrow against Louisiana Tech at 6:35 p.m. at the Les Murakami Stadium. Hawai`i is scheduled to start Ricky Bauer while the Bulldogs will go with Casey Blalock. After the game, the 10 Rainbow seniors will be honored for senior night.
