Biography

Prior to UH: Attended California for two years...redshirted in 1998 and on scout team in 1999...played one year at Laney Community College in Oakland, Calif.

Prep: A 1998 graduate of Beverly Hills High School in California...earned four letters in football and track and one in basketball...as a senior, received All-America honors after catching 62 passes for 984 yards and 16 touchdowns...named to the Long Beach Press Telegram's "Best in the West" and Super Prep All-Far West Team...also earned all-South Bay and all-CIF Southern Section honors...named to the all-CIF Southern Section second team as a junior...garnered MVP honors on both his freshman and sophomore teams...coached by Carter Paysinger...was a scholar-athlete all four years.

Personal: Born in Los Angeles, Calif...recruited out of high school by Michigan State, Nebraska, Colorado, Ohio State, Wisconsin and every Pac-10 school...has three brothers, Shakari, Virgil and Ty...parents are Vivian Burgess of La Puente, Calif. and Paul Bennett of Los Angeles, Calif.
