2017 (Senior): Appeared in seven games, all out of the bullpen…finished with a 2-2 record and a 4.35 ERA with 10 strikeouts and only one walk in 10.1 innings…picked up the win against Sacred Heart on March 12, throwing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts…struck out a career-high four batters in two hitless innings of relief against Nevada on March 30…got the win after throwing 1.2 innings without allowing a hit at CSUN (April 30)...named to the Big West All-Academic Team.
2016 (Junior): Made nine appearances, all in relief…went 1-1 with an ERA of 6.75 in eight innings pitched while recording one save…picked up first career save versus UC Irvine (April 1), striking out one batter in one inning of work…got first career win in a game versus San Francisco (Feb. 28), pitching 0.2 innings in a 10 inning victory.
Prior to UH: Played two season at Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, Calif…during his time at SRJC, the Bear Cubs earned a record of 57-26 with back-to-back second-place finishes in the Big 8 Conference and consecutive postseason playoff appearances…as a sophomore, he pitched 58 innings, making seven starts in 15 appearances, logging a 5-2 record with a 3.41 ERA, 47 strikeouts, 5 wins, and one save…as a freshman, registered a 1.95 ERA and 5-5 record, posting 52 strikeouts in 69.1 innings, making starts in 11 of 13 appearances…he was named honorable mention all-Big 8 for his rookie efforts…his first season at SRJC, he played alongside 2016 UH teammate Matt LoCoco…during summer 2015, played collegiate summer baseball for the Healdsburg Prune Packers, posting a 2-0 record and 3.85 ERA, pitching 32.2 innings with 41 strikeouts across 10 appearances, including six starts.
Prep: A 2013 graduate of Vintage High School in Napa, Calif, where he lettered in football and was a two-year letterman in baseball…as a senior, he batted .295 with 13 runs scored, eight RBI, two doubles, one triple, and six stolen bases…also pitched 24 innings en route to a 1.99 ERA, with two wins, two saves and 27 strikeouts…earned all-Monticello Empire League utility player honors, playing center field for the Crushers in addition to pitching as a senior...also played seven years of club baseball for the Napa Valley Baseball Club…was a four-year Honor Roll student and also played saxophone in the VHS jazz and marching band.
Personal: Born in Napa, Calif…graduated in Spring 2017 with his Bachelor of Arts in Economics…has an older brother and two older sisters…parents are Barbara and Brady Mitchell or Napa, Calif.
