2017 (Redshirt Junior):
Made five appearances, all in relief…earned two saves while posting an ERA of 3.00 in three innings pitched…pitched 0.2 innings to lock down the save against San Francisco on Feb. 25…worked a perfect eighth inning against San Francisco (Feb. 26) to preserve a one-run lead…got second save of the season pitching 1.1 hitless innings with one strikeout and no walks in a 6-3 win over Sacred Heart (March 9)...named to the Big West All-Academic Team.
2016 (Redshirt Sophomore): Appeared in nine games, making three starts…finished with a record of 1-2 in 18.2 innings with an ERA of 11.57…struck out 13 batters while walking 16…went five shutout innings allowing just one hit and got the win in his first career start against Chicago State (3/20)…pitched two scoreless innings of relief versus Michigan (3/10), striking out four.
Prior to UH: Played one season at Heartland Community College in Normal, Ill…registered a record of 3-1 with a 2.66 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 23.2 innings pitched.
Prep: A 2013 graduate of Saint Viator High School in Arlington Heights, Ill, where he was a three-year letterman in basketball and a two-year letterman in baseball…as a senior, posted a 6-3 record with a 2.24 ERA, striking out out 72 in 67 innings...that season, was named East Suburban Catholic Conference (ESCC) Pitcher of the Year, in addition to all-conference and all-area honors…also aided baseball team to 2012 Regional championship season as a junior…as a junior, he held a record of 1-2, with an ERA of 4.16 and 30 strikeouts in 33.2 innings pitched…his basketball squad earned a 2012 conference championship, making the Sectional finals in 2012 and ‘13, posting a program best 25-4 record in 2012 with a perfect conference record in the best Chicago-land league…as a senior in baseketball, he averaged 9.5 points per outing...received 2013 Perfect Game Central Region Honorable Mention.
Personal: Born in Chicago, Ill…graduated in Spring 2017 with his Bachelor of Arts in Economics…has 7 siblings; four younger sisters, two older brothers and an older sister…parents are Eileen and Dean Martin of Arlington Heights, Ill.
