Biography

2017 (Senior): Pitched 0.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen with one strikeout and one walk in only appearance of the season...named to the Big West All-Academic Team.

2016 (Junior):
Made 14 appearances, all in relief…pitched 13.2 innings, with a record of 0-0 and an ERA of 7.24…struck out 11 batters and walked seven…pitched one scoreless inning of relief versus Long Beach State (May 7) to keep the game tied in extra innings…went 1.1 innings with one strikeout without allowing a run at UC Santa Barbara.

Prior to UH: Played two seasons at tradition-rich Seminole State College in Seminole, Oklahoma for NJCAA Hall of Famer Lloyd Simmons, aiding the Trojans to 2014 and 2015 Conference and Region II Championships…SSC ranked as high as No. 4 nationally in 2015…as a sophomore, he earned a 2-1 record with a 5.06 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched across 16 relief appearances…had a WHIP of 1.53 & averaged nearly eight strikeouts per nine innings…During the summer, he shined while pitching in the Golden State Collegiate Baseball League (GSCBL) for the Alameda Merchants, throwing short relief to a league-leading seven saves…for Alameda, he struck out 20 with a 1.13 ERA through 24 innings in 21 appearances…during the summer, he did not allow a run through his first 22 innings pitched, spanning 20 outings…was one of only two relievers named to the GSCBL All-League First Team…pitched in only one appearance as a freshman at SSC…he was named a 2015 NJCAA Academic All-American…was also named the 2015 Seminole State College Math, Science, and Engineering Student of the Year.

Prep: A 2013 graduate of Peak to Peak Charter School, in Lafayette, Colorado, he was a two-year letterman in baseball under Coach Tim Combs…as a senior, Friesen batted .558 with 11 runs scored, 20 RBI, eight doubles, one triple, one home run, and three stolen bases…on the mound, he pitched 45 innings with a 0.93 ERA and 69 strikeouts, racking up six complete games and finishing with a 6-2 record…for his senior season efforts, he earned first-team 3A all-state honors as a pitcher…named the 2013 Denver Metropolitan League Senior Player of the Year…named to the 2013 BoCoPreps.com All-Region Team…winner of the Colorado High School “Touching Hearts through Athletics” Award in 2013.

Personal: Born in Louisville, Colo.…graduated in Spring 2017 with his Bachelor of Arts in Economics…has three younger sisters…parents are Shadlee and Harvey Friesen of Louisville, Colo.
