Biography

2010 (Senior): Appeared in all 14 games making 11 starts on the defensive line…had 48 tackles and led the team with 15.5 tackles for loss…tied for team lead with 5 sacks…also had one interception, three pass breakups, four quarterback hurries, and two forced fumbles…had four tackles including three for loss at Utah State (Oct. 23)…had four tackles with two sacks and a pass breakup against San Jose State (Nov. 20)…had season high 10 tackles, one interception, and two quarterback hurries at New Mexico State (Nov. 27)…recorded six tackles including three for loss against Tulsa in the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl (Dec. 24) named to the all-WAC Academic team.

2009: Sat out due to NCAA transfer rules.
 
Prior To UH: Played one season for Charleston Southern in South Carolina…tallied 14 tackles, two fumble recoveries and one interception in 12 games played…prior to CSU, attended Arizona Western in Yuma, Ariz. for two years…was a second-team all-league selection.
 
Prep: A 2006 graduate of Saint Louis School in Honolulu, O‘ahu…lettered three years in football and two in basketball…member of two league championship teams…a two-time all-league selection…also earned second-team all-state honors as a senior.
 
Personal: Born in Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i…majoring in sociology…has one sister…has a wife, Rain, and son, Tewai…parents are Malu Umu and Marlo Alaipalelei of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i.
