HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team will again have a sister combination on the roster with the addition of guard Taryn Bond, the younger sister of Rainbow Wahine sophomore Teyahna Bond.
 
Taryn Bond, a 5-foot-9 guard from Cairns, Australia, played in NBL1 with the Cairns Dolphins for the last three years. She averaged 12.35 points on 45.5% shooting from the field this summer. In 2025, Bond averaged 13.2 points per game while shooting 49.6%.
 
"Taryn is an elite athlete, and it shows the moment the ball is in her hands," UH head coach Khalilah Mitchell said. "She gets to the rim as well as anyone we have brought into this program, and that ability changes what we can do on the floor.
 
"What makes this signing special is that she gets to do it alongside her sister, Teyahna. The trust between siblings is something you cannot coach and cannot recruit — it is already built. Adding that to our locker room matters as much as anything she does athletically. We are not just adding a player. We are adding a family to ours, and this program got better the day she said yes."
 
A graduate of St. Monica's College in Cairns, Bond played in Australia's youth national program and helped the U17 team to gold in the FIBA U17 Women's Oceania Cup in 2025. She averaged 11.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game over five games in the tournament. Bond was also selected to compete in FIBA's Basketball Without Borders Asia 2025 and was named the event's MVP and 3-point champion.
 
She joins UH's 2026-27 roster along with Teyahna Bond, who played in all 33 games last season and earned the team's Most Improved Player award. UH had a sister combo for three seasons from 2022 to 2024 with Lily Wahinekapu and Jovi Lefotu on the roster together.
