IRVINE, Calif. – Catherine Touchette turned in a sixth-place finish in the heptathlon at the Big West Multis Championship Saturday, putting up the first three points for the Hawai'i women's track and field team at the conference championship.
Touchette completed the seven events with 5,362 points while
Maya Holman placed 10
th with 5,042, moving into seventh all-time at UH in the heptathlon.
A senior from Eugene, Oregon, Touchette began the day in seventh place but climbed up the standings with a UH heptathlon 800m record time of 2:08.23 to finish first in the field in that event. She also posted a personal best in the javelin with a mark of 38.64m (126-9) to finish fifth in that event.
Holman came in second in the field in the javelin with a throw of 40.77m (133-9), helping to keep her in the top 10 after starting the day in 10th place.
The full Rainbow Wahine squad will now head to Irvine next weekend for the Big West Championship, May 15-16.
