IRVINE, Calif. – Maya Holman sits in seventh place and
Catherine Touchette in 10th after day one of the heptathlon at the Big West Multis Championship in Irvine, Calif.
Holman put up 3,117 points and Touchette 3,024 over the first four events of the seven-event heptathlon.
Holman put up a PR in the shot put with a mark of 12.26m (40-2.75) – the third-best mark in the field in that event – to highlight her opening day. She also placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.62m (5-3.75) to help put her in striking distance of the podium after day one.
Touchette also delivered a pair of personal bests, stopping the clock in 25.38 seconds in the 200m dash to close out the day. The senior also threw a personal best in the shot put, posting a mark of 10.21m (33-6).
The two Rainbow Wahine heptathletes get the second and final day of the Big West Multis Championship underway Saturday at 9 a.m. HT.
