LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i track and field team concluded the Big West Championship on Saturday, finishing in eighth place overall with a total of 47 points following the final day of competition in Long Beach.
The Rainbow Wahine saw a balanced scoring effort across both track and field disciplines. In the javelin,
Lilian Turban secured five points for the team with a fourth-place finish, recording a top toss of 46.03m (151-0).
In the sand pits,
Tara Wyllie added four points in the triple jump, claiming fifth place after finding her mark on her fifth attempt of the afternoon.
On the track,
Isabella Kneeshaw provided a significant scoring punch in the sprints. Kneeshaw placed fifth in the 400m with a time of 54.31 to earn four points, and returned later to take seventh in the 200m in 23.77, adding two more points to the UH total.
The distance crew also contributed a double-scoring performance in the 800m. Catie Touchette led the pair with a sixth-place finish in 2:11.38, while
Izzy Gorton followed closely in seventh place with a time of 2:12.28, combining for five points in the event.
With the conference championships concluded, several members of the Rainbow Wahine will wait for final regional rankings to determine qualifications for the NCAA West Preliminary rounds later this month.
