Men's Tennis Returns To Take on #30 UCSB, Cal Poly

HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (8-6, 1-0 Big West) returns home after over 50 days away from the UH Tennis Complex to host two conference matches against 30th-ranked UC Santa Barbara (11-5, 0-0 BW) and Cal Poly (9-6, 0-0 BW). The Rainbow Warriors will battle the Gauchos on Thursday, March 26th at 4:00 p.m. HT, UH will then square off against the Mustangs on Saturday, March 28th at 4:00 p.m. HT. UCSB is the third-straight ranked them that the 'Bows will be competing against.

HAWAI'I NEWS & NOTESUniversity of Hawaii LogoHOME SWEET HOME -  Hawai'i returns to host a pair of conference matches vs. UCSB and Cal Poly this week after 54 days since hosting their last home match vs. Portland on Jan. 31 (UH was supposed to host Hawai"i Pacific on Feb. 7th, but that was canceled).

LAST WEEK -  The Rainbow Warriors are returning after a tough roadtrip last week when they battled a pair of ranked teams in 64th-ranked UNLV on Tuesday in Las Vegas and #48 Loyola Marymount on Thursday. Against the Rebels, UH's No. 5 Kent Mueller and #6 Hikaru Takahashi both notched victories on the singles courts in the 4-2 loss. At LMU, UH's No. 3 doubles team of Adriano Dzhenev and Mueller defeated the Lions' Cyrus Ahmet and Darius Tamaddon, 6-1, while in singles, UH No. 1 Azuma Visaya knocked off Max Welfing, 6-4, 6-3 and Kosuke Nakanishi held off Emil Kindhult, 6-4, 6-4. 

VISAYA LEADS UH IN SINGLES - After splitting his matches last week, Visaya is back atop the UH leaderboard in singles with an overall record of 7-5 and a 1-0 record in the Big West. Right behind Visaya are three Rainbow Warriors who all have notches six wins each. Both Timothy Li and Kent Mueller are tied with a 6-3 record while Dzhenev comes into this week at 6-4.

DOUBLES PLAY -  Hawai'i has won eight of their 14 doubles points in their dual matches. Leading the 'Bows is their No. 3 pair of Dzhenev and Mueller who enter this week with a 7-2 dual match record. UH's No. 2 Toa Maeda and Visaya have a 6-6 record while Li and Nakanishi come in with a 4-6 record playing on the No. 1 court.
