IRVINE, Calif.—Five University of Hawai'i men's tennis players earned Big West All-Conference honors as selected by the league's seven head coaches. Senior
Azuma Visaya earned all-first team honors in both singles and doubles with partner
Toa Maeda, while
Timothy Li (singles), and doubles partners
Adriano Dzhenev and
Kent Mueller all earned honorable mention honors.
Visaya anchored the Rainbow Warriors at the No. 1 singles position throughout the season. Visaya led the team with nine dual-match singles victories. It is the second-straight season that Visaya has earned All-Big West honors after being named to the second team in singles and first team in doubles with
Quinn Snyder as a junior last season.
In addition to his singles prowess, Visaya earned first-team honors in doubles alongside partner Maeda. The duo proved to be a dominant force, as they won their last four straight matches to finish the season with an overall record of 10-6.
Graduate transfer, Li received honorable mention recognition for his performance in singles. Li primarily competed at the No. 2 position and he went 5-9 overall and 1-2 in conference for the Rainbow Warriors. One of his season highlights included a key victory that contributed to the team's conference win over UC Davis in early April.
The tandem of Dzhenev and Mueller playwd primarily at the No. 3 doubles position, The pair recorded a strong 9-4 overall record and a 3-1 mark in conference play.
