Li, Dzhenev Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

HONOLULU — University of Hawai'i men's tennis players Adriano Dzhenev and Timothy Li have been named to the College Sports Communicators Men's Tennis Academic All-District team, recognizing their standout performances on the court and in the classroom.

To be eligible, student-athletes must compete in the lineup in at least 75 percent of their team's scheduled competitions (excluding regional ITA's and non-team scored events). All Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Finalists advancing to the national ballot will be voted on by CSC members, with the first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees announced in June.

Adriano Dzhenev (Sophomore - Haskovo, Bulgaria)
A transfer from UCF, Dzhenev earned All-Big West Honorable Mention accolades alongside doubles partner Kent Mueller. Dzhenev also captured his first career Big West Player of the Week honor on April 1.
  • On the Court: In singles, Dzhenev finished second on the team with an 8-5 overall singles record, including a 2-0 mark in conference play. He anchored the middle of the lineup, notably posting a 5-1 record at the No. 5 spot. At No. 3 doubles, Dzhenev and Mueller went 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the Big West.
  • Academics: Dzhenev excelled in the classroom to earn Dean's List honors in sociology. As a freshman at UCF, he was also named an ITA Scholar-Athlete in 2025.
Timothy Li (Senior - Valley Village, Calif.)
Li earned his Bachelor's Degree at UCLA before
joining Hawai'i for his final collegiate season. He secured All-Big West honorable mention honors in singles. Li also earned Big West Player of the Week honors on Feb. 18.
  • On the Court: Primarily competing at the No. 2 singles position, Li went 5-9 overall and 1-2 in conference play. In doubles, he and partner Kosuke Nakanishi played exclusively at the No. 1 spot, finishing 4-11 overall.
  • Community & Academics: While pursuing his master's degree in natural resource environmental management, Li has been a tireless community volunteer. This past semester, he worked with Pa'ēpa'ē O Waikolu to develop frameworks measuring educational and quantitative ecological impacts to help secure funding and improve programming. He also assisted Livable Maunalua Hui at Kapi'olani Community College's Māla Māunuunu garden to restore the Keawāwā Wetlands by removing invasive plants. Additionally, at the Waimānalo Research Station, Li helped research dryland rice cultivation to test cost-effective wildlife cameras for local small-scale farmers. For his outstanding work on the court, in the classroom, and in the community, Li was one of the All-District winners selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalists.
