SEATTLE – The Hawai'i track and field team closed out action at the UW Invite with a pair of program top 10 times in the mile Saturday at the Dempsey Indoor Center.
Mikaella Martin led a group of four Rainbow Wahine in the mile, running the second-fastest time in school history with a mark of 4:52.74. Martin is just the eighth woman in UH history to run the indoor mile in under five minutes and trails only teammate
Lucy Milliner on the program's all-time list.
Izzy Gorton joined Martin in adding her name to the indoor mile top 10 list, moving into ninth in UH history in the event with a time of 5:00.66.
Sophie Bekins posted an indoor mile personal best, stopping the clock in 5:05.28 while
Lucy Becker ran a 5:07.83 to round out the group of Rainbow Wahine competing in the mile.
Tara Wyllie led the way for UH in the field events by placing third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.32m (40-5) while
Ava Enriquez cleared 3.73m (12-2.75) and
Lindsey Koch 3.58m (11-9) in the pole vault.
The Rainbow Wahine will be back in action with a split-squad weekend Feb. 13-14 at the Husky Classic in Seattle and the Battle Born Classic in Reno, Nev.
